Our Wake-Up Call

When we check in with ourselves to determine what sort of 'vibes' we are giving out to the universe, do we find we are living from a standpoint of restriction or frustration? In what ways have we been holding ourselves back and playing it safe? What are we afraid to dream of? What old patterns keep coming up that are causing frustration or pain?

When we can answer those questions and honestly assess where we are (and not in a condemning or judgmental way, of course) we can begin the healing/revealing process and help unclog our high vibration, super-attracting pipes. What have you been attracting or creating in your life that needs to be unclogged?

For me, I've been creating from my false belief that I'm not enough and I have recently encountered situations where I feel like I'm not seen, not important, and not enough. These are small incidents and easy to toss aside and ignore; and I don't want to ignore them just in case I end up creating big incidents that I can't ignore.

I'm choosing to consider these situations as a 'wake-up call' to step more boldly into my life as Source, and to consider I am actually dying to my belief that I am not enough and that this particular dragon is not going down without a last-ditch effort to fight! With this viewpoint, I can bring the high vibrational energy of joy, gratitude, and compassion to these experiences and transform them - and not get sucked into them.

What beliefs might you be dying to even though they may still be appearing in your life? Could they simply be the remnants of something old fading away?

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
Free yourself forever from the thought that God may be pleased by a life of sacrifice, that the world is any better because of your misery, or that righteousness is more perfectly expressed through poverty than abundance. Know that the greater abundance of every good thing which you are bringing out in your life, the more perfectly you are satisfying the Divine Urge within you. ANYTHING YOU CAN DREAM OF is not too great for you to undertake, if it hurts no one and brings happiness and good into your life         ~The Science of Mind

Feeling our Feelings

Have you ever felt flawed, cracked, damaged, and no good to anyone? Have you ever been consumed by thoughts of hopelessness and despair? While it may be true that we are never separated from God's love, during these times, we don't see it nor do we feel it. What's the answer? Do we wallow? Do we slap on a 'happy face' and pretend everything is okay? Do we eat or drink or sleep or zone out in some other way?

At times like these, New Thought platitudes are not very comforting. Well-meaning friends that question our consciousness or tell us to "fake it 'til we make it" or remind us that we created the situation in the first place generally fail to inspire, soothe, or help. We are generally not supported in feeling our negative feelings, so when they come up, we have to hide them or pretend they don't exist.

Maybe a first step would be to give ourselves permission to feel our feelings - all of them! And we can be fully present in the feelings without having to play out worst-case scenarios in our minds - just be present in our feelings. And a second step could be to reach out to someone (like a minister or a practitioner) who can know the Truth for you without making your feelings wrong.

When we are experiencing spiritual pain, our philosophy should help us and not hinder us. We shouldn't let the idea of having to appear to be 'perfect' stop us from reaching out and reaching up for support.

I wonder who could use your own special brand of compassion and understanding.

Transforming our Faith

We can talk and talk and talk about what our life will look like when we change our thinking; and we can speculate and speculate and speculate about our infinite possibilities and the field of pure potentiality, and the creative nature of the Divine, but until we apply these ideas that we talk about, nothing changes.

When we are busy talking and speculating, we aren't practicing and we aren't consciously utilizing the principles we say we believe in. Faith must be lived and not just talked about. So often, we try something once or twice and if it doesn't work, we quickly give up and revert to our habitual thinking. Our faith is in the familiar and what we can see operating in our lives.

It's time to stop looking to the outer and start looking within to see the love, faith, and wonder that we are. When we can transform our faith from judging by appearances to knowing that what is seen was created from what is unseen; transform our faith from believing the words of experts to tapping into and trusting our own genius; transform our faith in our stories that identify us and thinking we are small, limited, and flawed to understanding that we truly are wonderful and awesome beings  - then we can utilize all we talk about and all we speculate about and move these ideas into action in our lives (whew! that was some long sentence, huh?)

It might just be time to take a leap of faith and see what Spirit can do through you!

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
It is not going to take any more faith than we now have, for one of the greatest lessons we can learn about faith is that we always possess it. But too often we are using it negatively. As a matter of fact, we are always affirming something, be it for good or for ill. We are always either saying, "I can," or "I cannot." What we need to do is to eliminate the negative and accentuate the positive. In doing this we shall gradually acquire the habit of affirmative thinking

Our Own Brand of Wisdom

Many of us doubt our own wisdom, especially if it is different than our tribe, so we may bury our wisdom and genius. Life is not a 'one size fits all' but we act as if it was.

We need to start thinking for ourselves and tap into our own wisdom. I have spent so much money through the years looking for answers. I've taken astrology classes, Reiki classes, sound healing classes, soul exploration classes, hand analysis classes, EST, On Course, and more. I was looking to others and not trusting the wisdom and answers within. After all, who was I? I wasn't an author, I didn't have a PhD, I haven't been around the world speaking to a global audience of thousands, I wasn't featured on 'The Secret' so what did I know. These experts clearly know more than me (or so I thought).

We need to stop hiding behind what we've been told is virtuous and correct, especially if we act or think differently in private. We need to think for ourselves, trust the Divine Wisdom within, and have the courage and strength to act on that wisdom. We need to be willing to walk in the world with our gifts and wisdom and not back down.

It's time to bring your own brand of wisdom to the table, even if that wisdom may appear to you as if it were a flaw. It isn't. Really, it isn't.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
"How to make practical use of this Divine wisdom? It is not enough for us to say that God is all there is. That statement was true before we said it. But if we wish to demonstrate the availability of this higher Power in human experience, when we say "God is all the Life there is" we must add:  "That Life is my life now." "God is Good; that Goodness is mine." "God is Substance; that Substance is now my supply." That Divine thing within us, that creative Energy and infinite Intelligence which functions through us, which is God the living Spirit Almighty, must be directed in our lives. We must link our thought with the thought of the Infinite"

A Fool for God

I have a question for each of us (well, a few questions really): Are we willing get excited and to be a fool for God? Are we willing to get excited and court that Divine Presence? Are we willing to get excited and unleash the magnificence and awesomeness within? Are we willing to look like an idiot and go out on a limb with the belief that "no matter what is going on in our lives, God is here?"

We wonder about our purpose and why we're here. We make it complicated, we search, and we put our life and our gifts on hold until we uncover or discover our purpose. What if our purpose was to get excited about life, love, our talents and gifts, and the indwelling Presence of God within? What if our purpose was to become artists in living? And what if courting the Divine Presence will actually lead us to our purpose?

So often we are fools - but not fools for God. We're fools in thinking we are separate and apart from Spirit. We're fools because we look for evidence in the physical world when it has been our own consciousness that created what we see. Let's become artists in living where we live by inspiration and sense the divine touch in everything. Then we will find everything sacred and we might just get a sense of just how awesome we really are.

Maybe being a fool for God would help stop the monkey mind chatter that says, "play it safe, wait for a better time, act your age, don't take risk, and only do what's comfortable and familiar. No artistry in that.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
"Our whole purpose is to make the intellect an instrument for the Spirit. We must become artists in living. To live by inspiration means to sense the divine touch in everything; to enter into the spirit of things; to enter into the joy of living."

True Identity

Sometimes we get stuck in our concepts of who we are and the roles we play. We have so many ways we identify ourselves: mother, father, son, daughter, husband, wife, dancer, entertainer, minister, business owner, retired, employee, Virgo, Pisces, introvert, extrovert - and the list goes on and on and on. And for every identity, we have a corresponding image or concept of what that means and what that looks like.
When we identify with these roles, it takes us away from the realization of a more important concept that no matter what is happening in our lives, God is present.  In addition, when we identify with the various roles we play, they have to power to make us happy, sad, proud, frustrated, envious, or content. Our mental attitudes need to come from the awareness that God is always present within and not from external events.

It's time to see beyond the familiar and the roles we play, to think beyond what we have been told, and to dream beyond our expectations. It's time to tell the Truth about ourselves - that we are awesome, magnificent, inspiring, talented, vibrant, enthusiastic, and dynamic creators.

Now, put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
"If we learn to think of the Divine Life as flowing through our every action, we will soon discover that the things we give our attention to are quickened with a new energy, for we are breathing the very essence of Life into them. So when we think of ourselves as unhappy, depressed, or ill, we can learn to reverse the whole process. We can think ourselves into well-being, prosperity, and success."

Expect More

We generally get what we 'expect' in life; not what we hope for, not what we wish for, and often, not even what we pray for (say, what?). We get what we expect. The energy of expectation draws things to us. The problem is, many of us expect the worst and hope for the best. Or we expect things to be hard and difficult and challenging. And guess what? You guessed it, they are.

When we expect something is hard to do or hard to overcome, chances are we avoid it. We want things 'easily and effortlessly.' We want things to flow. Yes, we want that, but chances are we don't expect that. And when we think something is hard, we avoid it and struggle against it.

But we can adopt a 'miracle mindset' simply by replacing the word 'hard' with the word 'unfamiliar.' I love what Pam Grout writes in her book, E Cubed, "'Hard' is a four-letter word that is one of the most dangerous words in the English language. It's especially damning when combined with something you want to accomplish, such as lose weight, change your thinking, attract money, or get a hot date!"

What have you been avoiding simply because it is hard to do or hard to accomplish? I'll bet it isn't hard for everyone, so maybe it isn't hard at all, simply unfamiliar. And we can do the unfamiliar all day long. So, let's give it a try and see what happens.

Wisdom From Ernest Holmes
Because we fail to realize that Principle is not bound by precedent, we limit our faith to that which has already been accomplished, and few “miracles” result. When faith finds its proper place under Divine Law, there are no limitations, and what are called miraculous results follow.
