New Beginnings

Much of our time is spent on unconscious thinking patterns and habits, so the directions we are giving to the Law of Mind are fuzzy and muddled. We might even be giving out mixed messages. And then we wonder why we haven't accomplished what we wanted, why we are in the jobs we're in, why our relationships struggle, or why we don't feel creatively fulfilled. We didn't give good directions. And by directions, I don't mean HOW something needs to be done, but the end result.

It all begins with a new thought. And this newthought could be the beginning of opening up; the beginning of releasing old ideas and beliefs; the beginning of allowing and not controlling; the beginning of listening to our own inner brilliance.

If we want a different outcome, we need to have a new beginning and a new thought. We don't need the magic bullet; we already have the magic bullet. We just haven't been aware that the answer has been within us all along. We don't need to be healed; Spirit needs to be revealed. Let's take off the burden of our limiting beliefs and reveal the Truth.

No matter how long you've been thinking a certain way, it's never too late to change and come home to your spiritual power.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
It has been proved that by thinking correctly and by a conscious mental use of the law of Mind, we can cause It to do definite things for us, through us. By conscious thinking, we give conscious direction to It.      ~ The Science of Mind

Dream Big

Some of us find it hard to dream big, receive big, and get out of our own way and let Spirit move through us. Some of us just want to play it safe, remain in our comfort zone, and keep doing the same thing over and over again. We may not be on fire with life, but we sure know what to expect! If we don't accept or welcome or receive our good, it doesn't go away; it just doesn't become part of our life.

How many times do we let old tapes and old storiesdetermine how (or even if) we move ahead? Maybe we start something with confidence only to let the memory of Uncle Bert telling us we could never accomplish anything diminish our confidence. And before long, another thought that is similar follows along and we are soon derailed. Some of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we can't do something simply because we failed at it once before.

Most of us have heard the saying, "Whatever you can conceive and believe, you can achieve." Our beliefs are creating a mental mold that Creative Intelligence, Spirit, God or the Law (all the same thing) will rush to fill. That's what God does; It creates and It gives and It gives and It gives. We need to create the mold we wish to experience. We need to uproot our old beliefs and choose something new. It's time to dream big.

I love this poem by Meister Eckhart:
"I could not bear to touch God with my own hand when He came within my reach, but He wanted me to hold Him. How God solved my blessed agony, who can understand? He turned my body into His." And that's you too!

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes

How much of this Infinite Good is ours? ALL OF IT! And how much of It may we have to use? AS MUCH AS WE CAN EMBODY."      ~ The Science of Mind

A Matter of Principle

Have you ever been in a group and felt like you just didn't belong? Have you felt like you were a fraud or a phoney and if people knew you, they'd realize you weren't good enough? Have you ever felt like you really didn't matter?
I MatterJust because we believe something, doesn't mean it's true; it may simply be a habit of thinking. And if we have a habit of thinking we don't matter, we end up diluting our joy, our happiness, our ability to engage fully in life, and our conscious connection with the Divine.

Who are you?  Are you simply a collection of memories?  Are you someone's family member?  Are you what you do for a living?  How many different ways do we describe oursevles by using the words, "I am.....?"  For me, I've commonly described myself in the following ways: I am a minister, I am a coach, I am a mother, I am not good at meeting people for the first time, I am a great speaker and story-teller, I am too fat, I am smart, I am not always likeable - - and the list could go on and on.

The problem comes when we think we are what we think we are. In his book "The Untethered Soul," Michael Singer tells us we've only ever had one problem and that is the voice in our head.  We believe our voice when it tells us we are less than, we are not good enough, we've been abused, we've lied, we don't deserve love, we have to earn love, we shouldn't trust, and we must never let ourselves be hurt.  When we believe that and we think we are that - it is easy to feel like a fraud or a phoney and to think we don't matter.

However, that is never the Truth and it never will be the Truth.  It is just an idea (and a limiting idea at that!)  You are not the experience, you are the one who is experiencing; you are not your thoughts, you are the one doing the thinking.  There is a big differnce.  In the first case, when we think we are what we experience, we can feel powerless and victimized and simply hope for the best. But when we realize we have the choice to change our way of thinking, we can observe our situation(s) and not be defined by them.  This choice leads to freedom.
The Sufi mystic Rumi wrote, "You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and truth. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You're not meant for crawling, so don't. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly. Know this truth about you." It's time to change our habits of thinking and realize we are good enough and we do matter!
