Ready to Receive

God is Infinite, ready to fill our every desire and every need, but we aren't always open to receive all of our good. If we go to the ocean with a thimble, we take away a thimble of ocean. If we go with a bucket, we get to take an entire bucket of ocean. And if we back up a tanker truck and fill it, we can have an entire truck full of ocean. The ocean doesn't care; it is still the ocean and the flow continues to flow.

However, we are not always receptive to the flow ofgood. We have ideas about our worthiness. We think if we have more than others will have less; we worry what other people will think of us - we might look greedy; we question our ability to handle money or other good. The result is we don't ask for what we want and we block the flow of good to us and through us. It's time to get out the Spiritual Drano to unclog our pipes.

How much are we willing to move beyond the thimble and become a bigger vessel? God is willing to fill up the entire container that we provide. Spirit wants to give us more of the goodness that we desire but we must be able to see it, feel it, and know it before the goodness can be revealed.

What is Life calling you to do and what is Life calling you to be? Are you hiding from your greatness? Are you shrinking from your destiny? And if you are....then stop it!

Are you willing to be glorified? Are you willing to be so full of joy that you don't know if you can even contain it all? Are you willing to step into your power? Hard questions, huh?

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
How much can one demonstrate? Just what one can believe. How much can we see, how much can we accept, how much can we find in our consciousness that is no longer repudiated by our own denials? Whatever that is, THAT IS HOW MUCH WE CAN HAVE

What Picture Are You Drawing

A small child was drawing a picture and his teacher said, "That's an interesting picture. Tell me about that picture." And the child said, "It's a picture of God." The teacher replied, "Nobody knows what God looks like." At that point, the child looked up and said, "They will when I get done."

What is your concept of God? What do you really feel -deep down - about God? How many of the ideas that we had about God when we were children remain, even if it just a tendril that remains? Is God some far off deity? Is God a vengeful Being? Is God something you turn to only in tough times because God is too busy to deal with your minor day-to-day needs? Is God sitting on a throne, wearing white, with white hair? Yes, what we think about God says a lot about us. What picture are you drawing of God?

How about this as a picture? God is always God. And this limitless Power is at our disposal. Instead of looking to the outside world for happiness and fulfillment, how about discovering that what we are looking for is already within us? It is the internal world that fulfills us. And just maybe, once we discover that, the external will follow along. What a thought!
Dance with the courage to explore your true nature and create all the beauty and joy that was meant for you. It will be the dance of a lifetime!

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
Man and woman, by thinking, can bring into his or her experience whatsoever he or she desires - if we think correctly, and become a living embodiment of our thoughts. This is not done by holding thoughts but by knowing the Truth."

Playing at a Higher Level

Answering the call of the Divine Invitation and turning the heat up on our vision and dreams calls us to play at a higher level. We may be asked to do something uncomfortable or something we've never done before. As a matter of fact, it should ask us that! Remember, our vision doesn't live in our comfort zone.
Playing at a higher level is about honesty, integrity, and dedication. It's about the willingness to listen to the 'still small voice' and taking inspired action even when we don't see any results. It's about trusting the action of the Law. It's about getting in touch with 'who we really are.'

Everything in our lives has the purpose of leading us back to greater and greater wholeness and connection to God, our one Source. All of life is a movement toward wholeness. The real blessing of answering the Divine Invitation and turning up the heat on our vision and dreams is who we become in the process. Introducing our self to the SELF is one of the best gifts we can give and receive.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
There are going to be changes in our lives from hour to hour and day to day, and we cannot escape them. It is the nature of the Universe. Let us accept change, make the most of it, and capitalize on it.

The action of the Law never changes, but the direction of the action is always up to us. Life can become a glorious adventure, increasingly filled with more of every good thing as we gradually or suddenly come to change our pattern of thinking so that it embraces more of those good things.

Taking Inspired Action

We want to build a life that is fulfilling, inspiring, full of joy and purpose, and one that utilized our passion, skills, and talents. For many of us, we get busy building, creating, coercing, orchestrating, manipulating, maneuvering, forcing, adjusting. It is as if we are the hammer and everything we see is a nail. We don't want to sit idly waiting for our vision or goals, we want to do something!

What we often forget is that the something we need to do comes from inspired action. You know, the action that comes from that 'still small voice,' not the action from our ever-talkative Monkey Mind. And why do we want to listen to that 'still small voice?'

Because we are so used to listening to the voice that tells us why we can't do it, why there isn't enough time to do it, why we don't have enough education to do it, why it is too hard to do it. That voice anchors us in comfort and the 'still small voice' leads us outside of our comfort zone. And the life we want to build doesn't live inside our comfort zone.

It's time to take inspired action, even if we are afraid, even if we don't want to, and even if we think we need to wait until we read another book or take another class. Let Spirit work for you by working through you today.

You cannot MAKE your dreams manifest (that's Spirit's domain), but you absolutely can make them so welcome that they will appear out of thin air! How about making your bliss welcome? Put out that welcome mat!

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
Therefore, if anyone asks the question, 'Can I become a millionaire overnight simply by affirming that I have a million dollars?' the answer would be that nothing could be further from the truth. There are too many misguided people in dire circumstances who are affirming 'I am rich.' In a certain sense their affirmation is correct, but frequently they overlook the fundamental premise of the Science of Mind, which is that Spirit can do for us only that which It does through us. Too often they fail to realize that they have a definite part to play in the relationship between God and humankind

The Magnificent Seven

We need the right tools for the right job. And when we are ready to step up and answer the Divine Invitation to live our best life, to be a beneficial presence, and to move confidently in the direction of our dream, it may take more than just willingness on our part - we might just need some spiritual tools to help us on our path (just in case the road gets bumpy or the path gets scary).

We all know about these 'Magnificent Seven' spiritualtools (and there are way more than just these seven). But the question is, "Do we practice them on an ongoing and consistent basis?" Or do we hide them in the closet, behind our winter coats, and only bring them out when we need them?

It's easy to make excuses and be complacent about our spiritual practices when things are going well. However, the tools in our spiritual tool kit are not only for the difficult and challenging times; they help strengthen  our commitment to keep moving forward and not retreat back to our comfort zone. Our dreams and fulfilled life is not in our comfort zone.

So, what are these 'Magnificent Seven?'
  • Meditation
  • Visioning
  • Spiritual Mind Treatment / Affirmative Prayer
  • Affirmations
  • Visualization
  • Seva (Sacred Service)
  • Appreciation
  • Bonus: Tithing
These are not the only tools, but regular use of these tools can help you remember the Truth of Who You Are, even in the midst of challenge and difficulty. Use them. You are worth it!

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
Prayer is for the purpose of changing our thinking so we can get rid of what we do not like and have more of the good we do like.

The Bridge That Gets You There

We've all heard the phrase, "you can't get there from here" and sometimes it seems as if our 'there' is really, really far away and we don't know how to get 'there.' Of course, spiritually speaking, there is no here or there, everything is One. However, in our human experience, we can feel the longing or the discomfort  between where we are and where we want to go; between where we are and how we want to live life fully and on purpose.

We can get there from here if we are willing to bridge the gap between where we are and where we want to be. And when we build that bridge, it can feel like it is a suspension bridge that is poorly built, wobbly, and really scary. So we tend to retreat back to what feels safe and comfortable.

Although I am afraid of heights, my daughter and I both crossed the Capilano suspension bridge (pictured) and I was scared. Really scared. It was wobbly and a drop of 230 feet. I was completely in the present moment, focusing on my very next step with the end clearly in mind.

Safe and comfortable is the not the way to our brilliance. Safe and comfortable lands us firmly in mediocrity. Safe and comfortable is easy (and dare I say boring??). One of the best things we can do for ourselves is push our upper limits and let go of our limiting ideas that we are flawed, or we aren't worthy, or we aren't good enough, or we aren't lovable (you get the idea). And who knows, you might find wobbly exciting! Let me know how it goes.

Take one step at a time, keep your focus on the end result, and trust your inner wisdom that you are crossing the bridge that leads you back to yourself.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
Here we may meet difficulties, uncertainties and doubts, barriers walling our passage. But we must not be discouraged when so confronted. We must climb over the rocks of unbelief, pass around the barriers of doubt, and plunge into the stream with faith. The stream will ever widen; the barriers will gradually disappear; though we walk through the plains and valleys of indecision and doubt, the stream will still carry us back to the ocean of our being.

What Does It Look Like?

If I were to ask you to describe what you want, it might be easier for you to describe what you don'twant. It's easy to identify where our current experiences or challenges are causing us discomfort (in our relationships, in our wallet, in our health, in our creativity), and it can be more difficult to dive in and describe what we do want.

One of the reasons we may have some reluctance indescribing what we do want is because deep down we may not believe we'll ever get it. Or deep down we may not feel worthy enough, or smart enough, or lucky enough, or talented enough. We don't want to be disappointed so we don't spend much time describing what we actually want. So, we may not be disappointed, but we'll likely not ever be fulfilled, thriving, or living big as God.

What makes you come alive? What if Universal Substance is ready to pour Itself more fully into you and your life? What can you do to become more receptive? Maybe we can more fully accept our vision. Maybe we can begin making the inner changes needed so we can become the person we are inside to attract our vision. Maybe we can take steps to come into alignment with the Truth of Who We Are. Maybe we can increase our faith in a bigger God and our unity with that.

Take a chance today and write down your vision for your life. The ball is in your court. What if this is just the first step in your future awesome life?

Wisdom from Thomas Troward

"My mind is a center of Divine operation.  The Divine operation is always for expansion and fuller expression, and this means the production of something beyond what has gone before, something entirely new, not included in the past experience, though proceeding out of it by an orderly sequence of growth.  Therefore, since the Divine cannot change its inherent nature, it must operate in the same manner with me; consequently, in my own special world, of which I am the center, it will move forward to produce new conditions, always in advance of any that have gone before."
