It Isn't Over

The last Sunday of 2014, everyone who attended the service at CPL Sedona had an opportunity to write what we wanted to experience or create in 2015 and what we were willing to release in 2015 and seal it in an envelope. I mailed those out this past week and I opened my envelope and was surprised at the top of the page I wrote: "2015: My Year to Show Up."

At first glance, I immediately thought that I really didn't show up more than normal. I was basically doing the same things: working at Gore and working at CPL Sedona. I was still showing up every Sunday, teaching class, attending the Wednesday night concerts, going to my monthly game night, and playing Bingo once a month as well. So, on the surface, things were the same. And I can say I was a bit disappointed.

But when I reflected longer, I realized I was showing
up deeper, showing up more authentically, and showing up more for myself. I facilitated a correspondence course for an inmate in Alabama, helping him work through issues of anger, frustration, self-acceptance, and shame. This helped me work through my own feelings. I hired a coach who is gifted as seeing past my wall and fear and is a guide on my heroine's journey. I am showing up for myself, moving deeper into myself, and into my power. And it is scary.

What has your year looked like so far? What did you decide to create or experience this year? How have you moved forward with that? What limiting ideas are you willing to release? What do you say "enough" to? There's still time. How can you show up and create something new?

Dragon-slaying, troll dancing, and weed whacking can be a piece of cake once you take that first step.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
When a problem confronts you, take it into the silence of your consciousness.  Instead of thinking of the problem, think of the answer.  God does not have problems, therefore, the Divine Mind is the answer to every human problem.  Principles never have problems.  Problems are solved by bringing them under the control of principles.  The problem is dissolved as the principle flows through it to the correct answer.    ~ This Thing Called You

Playing at a Higher Level

Answering the call of the Divine Invitation and turning the heat up on our vision and dreams calls us to play at a higher level. We may be asked to do something uncomfortable or something we've never done before. As a matter of fact, it should ask us that! Remember, our vision doesn't live in our comfort zone.
Playing at a higher level is about honesty, integrity, and dedication. It's about the willingness to listen to the 'still small voice' and taking inspired action even when we don't see any results. It's about trusting the action of the Law. It's about getting in touch with 'who we really are.'

Everything in our lives has the purpose of leading us back to greater and greater wholeness and connection to God, our one Source. All of life is a movement toward wholeness. The real blessing of answering the Divine Invitation and turning up the heat on our vision and dreams is who we become in the process. Introducing our self to the SELF is one of the best gifts we can give and receive.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
There are going to be changes in our lives from hour to hour and day to day, and we cannot escape them. It is the nature of the Universe. Let us accept change, make the most of it, and capitalize on it.

The action of the Law never changes, but the direction of the action is always up to us. Life can become a glorious adventure, increasingly filled with more of every good thing as we gradually or suddenly come to change our pattern of thinking so that it embraces more of those good things.

The Bridge That Gets You There

We've all heard the phrase, "you can't get there from here" and sometimes it seems as if our 'there' is really, really far away and we don't know how to get 'there.' Of course, spiritually speaking, there is no here or there, everything is One. However, in our human experience, we can feel the longing or the discomfort  between where we are and where we want to go; between where we are and how we want to live life fully and on purpose.

We can get there from here if we are willing to bridge the gap between where we are and where we want to be. And when we build that bridge, it can feel like it is a suspension bridge that is poorly built, wobbly, and really scary. So we tend to retreat back to what feels safe and comfortable.

Although I am afraid of heights, my daughter and I both crossed the Capilano suspension bridge (pictured) and I was scared. Really scared. It was wobbly and a drop of 230 feet. I was completely in the present moment, focusing on my very next step with the end clearly in mind.

Safe and comfortable is the not the way to our brilliance. Safe and comfortable lands us firmly in mediocrity. Safe and comfortable is easy (and dare I say boring??). One of the best things we can do for ourselves is push our upper limits and let go of our limiting ideas that we are flawed, or we aren't worthy, or we aren't good enough, or we aren't lovable (you get the idea). And who knows, you might find wobbly exciting! Let me know how it goes.

Take one step at a time, keep your focus on the end result, and trust your inner wisdom that you are crossing the bridge that leads you back to yourself.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
Here we may meet difficulties, uncertainties and doubts, barriers walling our passage. But we must not be discouraged when so confronted. We must climb over the rocks of unbelief, pass around the barriers of doubt, and plunge into the stream with faith. The stream will ever widen; the barriers will gradually disappear; though we walk through the plains and valleys of indecision and doubt, the stream will still carry us back to the ocean of our being.

Making the Road Better

Once upon a time, a king had a great highway built for the people who lived in his kingdom. After it was completed, but before it was opened to the public, the king decided to have a contest. He invited as many of his subjects as desired to participate. The challenge was to see who could travel the highway the best, and the winner was to receive a box of gold.

On the day of the contest, all the people came. Some
Windy Road - please display images for better viewing. Thanks.of them had fine chariots, some had fine clothing and fancy food to make the trip a luxurious journey. Some wore their sturdiest shoes and ran along the highway to show their skill. All day they traveled the highway, and each one, when he arrived at the end, complained to the king about a large pile of rocks and debris that had been left almost blocking the road at one point, and that got in their way and hindered their travel.

At the end of the day, a lone traveler crossed the finish line warily and walked over to the king. He was tired and dirty, but he addressed the king with great respect and handed him a small chest of gold. He said, "I stopped along the way to clear a pile of rocks and debris that was blocking the road. This chest of gold was under it all. Please have it returned to its rightful owner."

The king replied, "You are the rightful owner. You've earned this gold, for you won my contest. He who travels the road best is he who makes the road better for those who will follow."

How do we show up in this world and make the road better for those who follow? How do we show up as a beneficial presence? How do we remember that who we are makes a difference? What difference have we been wanting to make but have hesitated to begin?

What steps are right in front of you to take? What is yours to do? If you do your thing, then God can do Its thing, too.

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
We should come to see that, as individuals, we have not really thought ourselves into limitation. What has happened is that the belief in limitation has operated through us, and our agreement with this belief has tended to vitalize it.

Preparing for the Inner Shift

Last Sunday was Easter and for me it is a time to celebrate the inner spirit - the spirit of overcoming; the ability within each of us to rise up and meeting situations; to learn the things we need to learn (like remembering the Truth of who we are); and to experience a new birth or transformation of consciousness.

We could consider this time as our hero's journey when we confront the unexpected, the unknown, or the scary and yet we still find a way to break through and rise up and overcome. And our journey begins with an entry point. Our entry point is life nudging us to make a shift.

Sometimes our entry point is a serious diagnosis, which could look like a betrayal by our body; the loss of a relationship, which could look like a betrayal by our spouse, our partner, our child, or our friend; getting fired, which could look like a betrayal by our employer; or some other event that knocks us off our center. And sometimes our entry point is a passing comment that someone makes.

But whatever our entry point to our own hero's journey,  it's about new beginnings and making successful transitions. It's about taking time to pause and reflect on our True Nature. It's about spending some time alone to renew our soul and remember God's power. It's about finding opening up to our infinite possibilities.

Our entry point could lead us on a journey to diminishing our false beliefs. Are you up for it?

Wisdom from Ernest Holmes
...in such degree as we can shift the basis of our imagery, our belief, our emotional and mental reactions to life, we can come to a place, individually, of peace and security and happiness, then gradually as these changes take place there will be a corresponding change in our environment.
